Paula Norcott IBCLC

Hi Friends! I am Paula (she/her), lactation consultant with over 22 years experience serving breastfeeding parents. I have been a CLC for over 15 years and finally completed my my IBCLC certification after completing over 120 didactic hours through the University of California San Diego Extension program. I got my start in this work as a peer counselor for WIC in Plymouth Massachusetts in 1999. I ran support groups for the local hospital and completed my CLC training/certification there in 2005 and worked as a peer counselor for 10 years. I have continued to run support groups after moving to Maine 12 years ago,. I currently work in both the clinical, hospital setting and private settings. I have spent years going deep into tongue ties and how they affect not only feeding but maternal mental health. Frustrated by how maternal pain is brushed off and how slow infant gain is blamed on breastfeeding parents, I have made it my mission to help these families feel confident in their plan and their ability to feed their tiny humans.

My number one lesson in working with hundreds of families in New England? Every family is unique, every case is different, you never know the answers before having all of the information.

I am fueled by good coffee, great humor, and human connection. Running my own business has given me hustle and drive. Having five children has made me super flexible and humble. 27 years of parenting has made me a champion problem solver, time management master and queen of communication. Working with families has proven to me there isn't one right way to do anything. There is only the right way for that particular family in that particular situation. When I am not working with new families, I can be found scrolling through tik tok, pink drink in hand, learning how to keep houseplants alive.

nicole hart IBCLC

Hi there, I'm Nicole (she/her), IBCLC and mom of three. Two things are true: breastfeeding is beautiful, AND it is incredibly challenging. I am passionate about supporting families to help them reach their individual feeding goals. My own breastfeeding journeys were anything but straightforward or easy. Tongue ties, painful nursing, weight gain anxiety, exclusive pumping, combo feeding, I’ve done it all! I know how hard you are working, and I believe in you. You deserve all the support!

You’ll find me working as a Lactation Consultant at Maine General in Augusta, offering office consults in Brunswick and Scarborough, and leading support groups! Now offering home visits between Portland and Brunswick! I’m here to help you through the early days of feeding without leaving your house!

I love chai tea, delicious food, and long cozy chats with girlfriends. My favorite way to relax is curled up on my couch with a good novel or binge-watching Call the Midwife, the Crown or Girls5Eva. More often, though, you’ll find me chasing or being chased by one of my three kids!

Lisa sheer, ibclc

Hi! I’m Lisa (she/her), and I’m an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. I am also a mom, partner, friend, daughter, baker, hiker, gardener, hammock hanger, dog mom, plant mom, lover of music, nature and travel.

I began my career 25 years ago, shortly after my daughter was born, renting and selling breast pumps, back before they were covered by insurance. As a parent, I attended monthly meet-ups where I learned about feeding and parenting and soon developed a real passion for the many amazing aspects of breastfeeding! In 2003, I started working for Ohio WIC as a Breastfeeding Peer Helper and after years of loving this work, became an IBCLC in 2011. I have worked in the WIC office, in the NICU helping parents with pumping, and in 2021, I moved to private practice lactation doing home visits in rural Ohio. My partner and I recently relocated to Maine, and I’m thrilled to support families here!

Breast/chest feeding is not just about "latching". There are so many factors that can affect a feeding journey. This is why I have advanced my education and skills with additional training and certifications including proper flange fitting for pumps, Infant Massage, the Tummy Time! Method, and extensive training in tongue ties.

It is not my job to convince anyone to breastfeed or to breastfeed for a certain period of time, but to provide information for informed decisions. I like to chat with my clients, to get to know you a bit, answer any questions, and ultimately support you in your personal goals.
